Section 19

The foreign policy objectives shall be

Section 19 (a)

promotion and protection of the national interest;

(Promote and protect the interest of the nation.)


Section 19 (b)

promotion of African integration and support for African unity;

(Promote and support African togetherness and unify Africa as a continent.) 


Section 19 (c)

promotion of international co-operation for the consolidation of universal peace and mutual respect among all nations and elimination of discrimination in all its manifestations;

(promote cooperation with the international community to make sure there’s peace and mutual respect among all nations and by doing so, put an end to discrimination in all forms it may appear.) 


Section 19 (d)

respect for international law and treaty obligations as well as the seeking of settlement of international disputes by negotiation, mediation, conciliation, arbitration and adjudication; and

(Respect international laws and agreements as well as settling any international dispute by negotiation, mediation, conciliation, arbitration and adjudication.)


Section 19 (e)

promotion of a just world economic order.

(promote an economic order that is fair and just.)


Section 20

The State shall protect and improve the environment and safeguard the water, air and land, forest and wildlife of Nigeria.

(The government shall protect the environment, water, air, land, forest and wildlife in Nigeria.)
